It was clear that day two had come. The huge masses were more relaxed and it seemed as if people, including ourselves, had gotten into the sunny WebSummit groove. Connecting was significantly easier with an overall calm atmosphere throughout the four halls.

Laura and I started our day by attending the Dutch women in tech meetup in the Holland Corner booth. An important topic that deserves to get attention, which is clear that Web Summit holds dear by offering heavily reduced prices for women. In tech.

Day two held just as many amazing speakers as day one, but in the spirit of connecting, we wanted to choose the talks to see wisely. That lead us to repeat yesterday’s proven successful strategy to focus on the early main stage program.

At the main stage, we received a world announcement about Uber’s 2020 (!!!) release of uberAIR which will take their services into the aerospace. More than that, the service is expected to be cheaper than taking your own car!

Thought-provoking was the talk “Tech has a diversity problem” with Jane Martinson (The Gaurdian), Blake Irving (GoDaddy) & Susan Herman (American Civil Liberties Union). For instance, they spoke about how women were better represented in tech back in the 80’s.

The rest of the day was full of connecting, talking to people from all over the world. It’s beautiful how a subject – in this case, tech and innovation – can unite 50 000+ people from all over the world.

Please, have a look at the video below for more insights of the day!
