Do you want to get a peak in the kitchen of AWS? Are you curious about how they think, work & innovate? Then join this special event with loads of opportunities to connect to AWS and the speakers!

Amazon has a unique approach to innovation that is intrinsically linked to how Amazon uses technology and organize their teams. During this first Amazon Web Services’ (AWS) Thursday Gathering, AWS will share how they create a “Culture of Innovation”.

During the program you will learn more about how Amazon innovates and how they are organized around four interdependent elements: culture, mechanisms, architecture, and organization.

Specifically they will address:

  1. Amazon’s Leadership Principles and how they affect the organization’s (innovation) culture;
  2. The hallmark innovation mechanism: Working Backwards;
  3. Amazon’s underlying architecture supports and speed in innovation;
  4. Amazon’s two-pizza structure

Additionally, with support of some clients, they will address questions such as: how can the public sector in the Netherlands accelerate innovation? What challenges do state and local governments experience? What role does privacy legislation play?

The Association of Dutch Municipalities (VNG) will shed a light on their role as connector between public sector and commercial sector and how they leverage open source projects, such as the Haven standard. A VNG standard for platform-independent cloud hosting. In addition, the municipality of Nijmegen shares their learnings and insights on how to keep up with an ever changing social and technological environment.

To accelerate innovation, Municipality of Nijmegen implements solutions that have a direct benefit for their citizens, such as Yivi (formerly known as IRMA). Nijmegen was the first city to try Yivi, the identity platform for authentication and signing, developed by the Radboud University.

Join us in an open discussion and learn more on the challenges the public sector faces and share insights on how AWS can leverage commercial solutions!
