It must become one of the largest public works of art in the city: Rotterdam Art Ride. A group of artists will paint the pillars of the metro line between stations Rijnhaven and Maashaven in June to give this grey piece of colour.

In total there are eighteen pillars, four of which are made available to youth from the neighborhood. Under the guidance of professional artists, children and young people are allowed to give their own interpretation.

In the first instance, the art project is intended to improve the living environment in this part of South. But the organization also expects that Rotterdam Art Ride (in short: ROAR) has the potential to become an icon of the city. The pillars become part of different tours.

The official opening of ROAR is on Sunday 10 June. The project will last five years.
