Break Out: US/Maryland/Baltimore: Expansion is easier than you think! – Baltimore-Rotterdam Sister City Committee

June 14, 2018, 17:30 - 18:30

Programs, opportunities, and connections to get you started and help you along the way.
We will cover the current business climate in the State of Maryland and its largest city, the City of Baltimore, as an anchor and starting point for business growth in the US.

The City of Baltimore has over 700,000 people and with its surrounding suburbs, has over 3 million inhabitants. A key strength of Baltimore is its vibrant innovation, startup and venture capital community. Major sectors in the region include: Energy & Sustainability, BioHealth & Life Sciences, IT & Cybersecurity, Advanced Manufacturing, Aerospace, Financial Services, and Agribusiness.

Strategically located 150 miles further inland than any other mid-Atlantic U.S. port, the Port of Baltimore’s location provides a reach to 1/3 of the U.S. population and the industrial heartland in just an overnight drive. Ocean carriers from around the world bring cargo to the Port of Baltimore, including Spliethoff Lines.

Included in the presentation will be what it takes to get started, what programs and support structures are available, and how to take advantage of the cross-border information exchange between Baltimore and Rotterdam.

The session will be interactive, with lots of opportunities to ask questions.
We’ll encourage a lively engagement intended to result in potential action items following the program.

Presentation is created by MKS&H CPAs and International Business Advisors, Maryland Department of Commerce, and Baltimore Development Corporation.  Presenter is Shawn Burman, CPA – Senior Tax Specialist @MKS&H.

Baltimore-Rotterdam Sister City Committee is a volunteer-run non-profit that promotes economic, cultural, educational, health/environmental and other cooperation and exchanges between Baltimore, Maryland, USA and Rotterdam, the Netherlands.
