Break Out: How to increase the number & success of female entrepreneurs?! – Future Females

March 5, 2020, 17:30 - 18:00

The number of female (co)-founded fast growing companies has decreased in the Netherlands in 2018. “Women identify less with the image of ‘a successful entrepreneur’ and value their entrepreneurial skills lower than those of men.” highlights the ScaleUp Dashboard report from 2019.
Females wanting to start businesses on the African continent (where Future Females was founded) share the same misbelief or experience a similar bias. Through a July 2019 survey across the Future Females and Startup Grind South African communities, our members indicated that the biggest challenges holding them back from starting and growing businesses are mindset & confidence, access to technical & personal skills development education, access to role models / mentors and access to funding / capital. There is a huge need for a platform that connects, inspires and supports existing and aspiring female entrepreneurs. Building a community, physically, digitally, where women can grow – in business skills and personal skills could be the key to tackle the source of the problem and impact the next generation of (potential) female founders or leaders within companies.

About Future Females
Future Females aims to increase the number and success of female intra- and entrepreneurs by providing key resources (community, inspiration, business skills development and education, and support) that women need to start and grow successful businesses. They hosts monthly events in over 20 cities worldwide, offer an online business school and a virtual community for female founders.
